North Wales Wedding at Vale Country Club
This wedding was situated at Vale Country Club, North Wales, nestled in the picturesque town of Ruthin. The backdrop was the Clywdian range which lent itself to some amazing shots to capture all the special memories. To add to this special day, this lovely couple brought along their cute dog Molly. Being the first wedding of the year I was very excited to film their special day and produce the best wedding film.
Bridal Prep
The day started at Cleo’s parents home in Mold, North Wales. Having the bridal prep here really made the morning more personal. I was joined by the amazing Shutter Go Click who was a joy to work with. We instantly clicked, get it, which made capturing the day very easy. Cleo had her make-up done by the talented Renée Singh. Renée’s skills really added to the beauty of everyone getting ready. A lovely moment in the morning was the first look between Cleo and her father. Seeing the emotion between a father seeing his daughter in her wedding dress is a moment not to be missed.
Ceremony
After bridal prep we made our way to the venue, going down the slopes of a hill towards Vale Country Club. Upon arrival it was time to say hello to Simon, calm any nerves and then mic him up so that all the audio of the ceremony would be captured clearly. Molly, the dog, was waiting with Simon at the end of the aisle awaiting Cleos arrival. With the weather being clear and warm the ceremony was able to be outside having the Clywdian range as the backdrop to the most perfect ceremony. Cleo arrived and before the ceremony started they had the surprise of a confetti man. One of Simon’s groomsmen strutted his stuff down the aisle throwing confetti down the aisle and towards the guests. This certainly eased any nerves for Simon whilst he waited for the arrival of his best friend.
The ceremony vows are a great opportunity for me to capture the audio and to pop over the top of the highlight and the feature film. Having Molly sprint towards Cleo really made this ceremony special to the couple. You could tell that Simon was a little nervous as he did rush through some of his parts but this just meant you could see he was so excited to be marrying his best friend. The family were very involved and you could see Mark (fob) getting a little emotional seeing his special girl on her wedding day. The ceremony ended with one of my favourite shots to capture. The confetti walk. It’s just so much fun and looks great on the film. Cleo did have to have her bridal squad take the confetti out of her hair though.
Couples Shots
During the drinks reception me and Shutter Go Click took the couple to some spots where the ‘normal’ wedding shots wouldn’t typically be taken. Simon and Cleo were laughing the whole time and really showed off the love that these two share. I like to capture the natural moments of a wedding day, focusing on how the day flows, not necessarily the poses at this stage. Obviously these two had so much love to show my camera. Simon was lifting Cleo, kissing her and showing the love that he has for her.
Speeches
The speeches were filled with tears, laughter and remembering those that are no longer with us. Cleos dad decided to add special moments to the melody of various songs. Simon really tried to keep his composure during his speech but did shed a tear describing how hard Cleo has worked to build her photography business. He was very charismatic and really led to a captivating speech. Saying how Cleo and Molly were a really special addition to his life and something he never thought he would have. The best man’s speech involved some embarrassing stories about Simon on the stag do and also had pictures for each table showing some moments of Simon drunk. Ending his speech describing how he knew that Cleo was the perfect match for Simon and how they are just so perfect for each other.
First Dance and Party!
After the speeches we managed to get some really natural shots of Cleo, Simon and Molly running in the grounds of Vale Country Club. This then leads us nicely into the evening of partying and celebrating their love with a first dance and the band playing into the evening. Some of the dance moves may be described as questionable from the guests but what great wedding party isn’t. A really nice moment was Cleo dancing with her father. It was definitely something impromptu, but has to be captured as it’s these little moments I just love to capture.
This was such a joy to shoot and can’t recommend all the suppliers involved enough. Each one added so much to this North Wales wedding. They really are on top of their game and having them at your wedding is something I can’t hype up more. Another thank you to the team behind this day, it made it so much fun to shoot and work alongside you all. You can check them out below.

Shooting weddings as a North Wales wedding videographer, capturing those special moments in film for the couple to look back on in years to come is something I adore. It’s those moments that flies b. So watching it back, hearing those voices again is something not to be missed. I can’t thank Cleo and Simon enough for hiring me at their North Wales wedding at Vale Country Club enough. I do wish you both all the best for the future.
