Hannah and Joe

Hannah and Joe hired me as their Hafod Farm wedding videographer which was a real privilege. For Hannah’s wedding, she wore a dress from Meringue Bridal Boutique, make up was applied by Rae Buckley and hair was styled by the amazing Hair By Nina. This was the look Hannah requested and was achieved flawlessly as you can see in the videos and images in this article.

“We absolutely love our Film!”

The day began with a scenic drive through the Conwy valley and then arriving at Hafod Farm. After a brief exchange with Hannah, I immediately set about capturing the first establishing shots for their film. The architecture at Hafod Farm is beautiful, mixing the old mining cottages with modern interiors, to the quirky mirror filled reception room. I was joined by Abigail May and her second shooter who proved to be a pleasure to work with, bringing a calm professionalism to the atmosphere. Whilst the bridal party were still getting ready I made my way to Joe to capture some groom prep. With the couple both getting ready in the one venue, it means a second shooter isn’t necessarily required to guarantee this footage. Making my way back to Hannah we captured her in her dress and then the reveal with her parents and bridesmaids. Seeing a father shed a tear for his daughter is something that will always touch me.

The ceremony was orchestrated by MyAcousticWedding, who were to entertain the guests from the ceremony to the evening, expanding their duo into a 5 piece band. The ceremony began with serene music being performed, Hannah delicately walking down the aisle and then Joe, showing his pure emotion towards his future wife by shedding a few tears. There are certain parts of a wedding day that really touch you, father of the bride crying, heartfelt toasts and a groom, not holding back his emotions towards his bride. It is truly a beautiful moment. After a reading, the couple exchanged their vows, shared their first kiss to a eruptions applause and made their way out of the barn for a confetti line.

Cocktail hour started with catering supplied by Hog Roast Anglesey and cocktails for every guest. Either a pornstar martini or a mojito. There wasn’t much time for capturing candids as the couple wanted their portraits at a nearby sightseeing location called Swallow Falls. After some guest candids and group photos for the closest friends and family we made our way to this stunning, natural waterfall. The images here looked perfect, the light shining through the trees creating pockets of compositions, the fast flowing water in the background and the couple made this a perfect portrait session.

The wedding breakfast began with the toasts starting with the maid of honour. Breaking tradition on the order of toasts and who has one really is the best change in weddings I’ve seen. It followed with the parents and finished with Hannah reading out Joe’s notes as he was too emotional to read it out in front of all the guests. Weddings can really pull on your emotions and more than some people realise until the day. Once the toasts were completed and the food was eaten, the duo performed some more songs for the guests and a pre party started in the room. It was clear the guests were ready to party and make the most of every minute here.

The evening proceeded with the first dance inside the renovated barn the ceremony took place in. The band performed Hannah & Joe’s first dance and then went into their lively first set. The guests were ready to party, including the more senior folks who were throwing down some shapes. The lighting during the evening is always a fun time for me to capture interesting compositions, silhouettes, details and guests singing. It’s a lively part of the day and really reignites the days energy.

These are Hannah’s words on ‘the best wedding videographer’: “We have watched them on repeat all weekend and were brought to tears reminiscing over our special day. Thank you for capturing it so beautifully, we are so grateful.”
